Camping

Today’s economy stops many people from taking a vacation. The reason is the cost of the vacation could be spent on more important things. Paying your mortgage, putting food on the table, etc.

Camping is a cheap way of vacationing. The biggest expense will be the cost of the camper. If you are new at camping you will want to find an inexpensive camper to give it a try. Your other option is to rent a camper for the vacation.

If you are expecting to pull a camper or getting a RV it can be a little costly in gas. Take into consideration that staying at a motel will be much more expensive than renting a site for the camper.

New York State parks average $20.00 to $30.00 a night. On average a motel in New York charges $50.00 to $75.00 a night. Your savings will not only pay for the extra gas but other activities as well.

Buying a Camper

There are many campers out there for sale. Check your local papers, eBay, or Craig’s List. Ebay is a good site because they must reveal anything that is in need of fixing. Craig’s List and your local paper will give you the ability to see the camper in person.
New campers can be very expensive. If you are planing to travel the country then this would be the smart choice.

Perks of Camping

You will be able to stock the camper with snacks, meals, and condiments this will save you the cost of eating out every day.

You may have friends or family members that camp. Camping together is a great way to have a reunion and enjoy each others company.

Camping is less expensive than staying at a hotel. Many campsites have all the amenities of a hotel. To name a few, swimming pools, playgrounds, volleyball courts, and basketball courts there is something for everyone. Campsites offices will have a bulletin board which they post daily activities.

Staying at a campsite can be a great family get away. If you like taking walks on nature trails, bike riding, sitting around a campfire at night then you will really enjoy camping. During the day you may like to sit and relax at the campsite or maybe you would like to site see or visit attractions in the area.

Retirement and Travel

If you are lucky and able to retire buying a camper could be a great investment. Were you aware that you can rent a piece of property and park your camper or RV for months at a time.
Have you ever dreamed of having a second home. Well this might be the inexpensive way to live your dream.
Many retirees who live in the Northeast of America fly the coup for the winter they are called snowbirds. These people come back in the spring when the bitter cold, and snow is gone.

My Personal Experience

I have been camping for years, first with my children and now with my grandchildren. It is a great environment for the children and restful for the adults. Children love the outdoors and they are able to enjoy and run some of their energy off. The adults are able to sit and catch up with old friends and family very relaxing.

At the end of the evening you can toast marshmallows on the campfire for all to enjoy.

Camping is an awesome experience I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does.

Thank you for your very informative hub and I agree with all the points you make, but unfortunately, even though I am retired, we cannot afford to buy an rv. But at age 72 I still set up a pup tent in far away places like Navajo National Monument to hike in and see and experience the Betatakin Ruins.
